Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace was condemned by the Strasbourg judicial court for wrongly excluding a supporter. The Alsatian club will have to refund the subscription fees collected from a supporter, as well as pay him 200 euros in damages and interest for moral harm and 200 euros for procedural costs.

What happened?

The supporter had been wrongly accused of throwing a cup onto the pitch during the RC Strasbourg match against AS Saint-Étienne on November 9, 2024. Ten days later, the club notified him of a twelve-month commercial stadium ban and suspended his subscription.

Why it matters for Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace

The court found a « blamable lightness » on the part of the club, characterized by a non-contradictory procedure, the absence of communication of evidence despite the supporter's repeated requests, and the impossibility for the latter to appeal to mediation.

What are the consequences for the club

The club had also been absent from the two hearings, first invoking the closure of the winter transfer market and a match against Paris Saint-Germain, then the constraints of the sports calendar. Its conclusions transmitted the day before the second hearing at 19:54 were dismissed as inadmissible.
